Material examined. MHLCLFE C164 (male; SVL 470 mm, TaL 247 mm), MHLCLFE C165-166 (2 females; SVL 610, 480 mm, TaL 283, 236 mm respectively), captive specimens reported from having been collected in the vicinity of Lubukbasung, Province of Sumatera Barat. Province of Jambi, elev. 20 m.

Taxonomic comments. These specimens are typical for the species as recently redefined by Vogel & van Rooijen (2007) and van Rooijen & Vogel (2008). Two subspecies are recognized but only the nominate form is present on Sumatra.

Scalation: specimens MHLCLFE C164-166: DSR 15-15-11; VEN 170, 170, 169; SC 136, 132, 125 respectively.

Distribution on Sumatra. Provinces of Aceh, Sumatera Utara, Sumatera Barat, Riau, Jambi, Bengkulu, Sumatera Selatan, and Lampung; also the islands of Bangka, Belitung, Nias, and We, and Mentawai Archipelago and Riau Archipelago ( David & Vogel, 1996).

Biology.The specimen from Jambi Province was collected in a bush in a wet grassland. It had recently ingested a Takydromus sexlineatus ocellatus .
