( Figs. 42–45 View FIGURE 42 )

Daidalotarsonemus ethiopicus Mahunka, 1981: 116 ; Lindquist, 1986: 320; Lin & Zhang, 2002: 59.

Diagnosis. Female: Gnathosoma : Palpal length about 1/4 length of gnathosoma. Dorsum: Coarse ornamentation present on prodorsum, tergites C and D. Setae v1, sc2, c1, c2 and h unmodified in shape. Setae v1 shorter than sc2 (~ 21 and ~ 26, respectively). Setae c1 longer than c2 (~ 22 and ~ 20, respectively). Setae c1 inserted anteriad midlength of tergite C. Setae h shorter than c1 and c2 (~ 9). Setae d, e and f leaf-shaped. Setae d and f identical in shape (elongate-lanceolate) and length (~ 31) but different in width (~ 5 and ~ 7, respectively). Setae e unique in shape (elliptical), shorter than d and f, but longer than h (~ 19). Setae f ~17 distant from each other, on tubercles. Venter: Tegula truncate, slightly arched posteriorly. Apodemes distinct, except for prosternal apodeme from level of apodemes 2 to sejugal apodeme. Apodemes 2 not fused to prosternal apodeme. Poststernal apodeme bifurcated anteriorly. Legs: sensory cluster of tibiotarsus I complete. Seta tc” of tarsus II slender, smooth. Male & larva: unknown.

Redescription:

Gnathosoma : subtriangular in ventral view, length 32, maximum width 21. Setae dgs 9 and vgs 5 smooth; palps length 10, with two small subterminal setae and terminal projections. Pharynx length 18, maximum width 8.

Idiosoma—dorsum: length 214, width at level of c1 119. Prodorsal shield with coarse ornamentation. Tergites C and D covered with reticulate ornamentation. Lengths of setae: v1 21, sc1 18, sc2 26, c1 22, c2 20, d 31, e 19, f 31 and h 9. Maximum widths of expanded setae: d 5, e 10 and f 7. All dorsal setae serrate, except sc2, c1 and c2 smooth. Setae c1, c2 and h slender; d and f elongate-lanceolate with two veins; e elliptical with two veins. Most inserted on tubercles; except for v1 and h. Distances between dorsal setae: v1–v1 31, sc2–sc2 56, v1–sc2 34, c1–c1 62, c2–c2 105, c1–c2 43, d–d 50, f–f 17, e–f 14 and h–h 19. Setae sc2 anteriad sc1.

Idiosoma—venter: setae 1a 7; 2a 15; 3a 13 near anteromedial margins of apodemes 3; 3b 11 on posterior ends of apodemes 4. Apodemes 1 inconspicuously fused to anterior end of prosternal apodeme. Apodemes 2 short and not fused to prosternal apodeme. Prosternal apodeme conspicuous from junction with apodeme 1 to apodemes 2 and inconspicuous from that point to sejugal apodeme. Sejugal apodeme interrupted. Apodeme 3 extending diagonally from proximity of base of seta 3a to anterior margin of trochanter III. Apodemes 4 extending diagonally from midlength of poststernal apodeme nearly to bases of setae 3b. Poststernal apodeme bifurcated anteriorly. Tegula 15 wide and 5 long; posterior margin slightly arched. Setae ps 17 serrate.

Legs: Lengths: leg I 57, leg II 49, leg III 85. Number of setae: leg I: 3-4-6(2)+7(1), leg II: 3-3-4-4(1), leg III: 1+2-4-4. Tarsal solenidion ω of tibiotarsus I 4. Sensory cluster of tibiotarsus I complete, solenidion φ1 2, slender, capitate; solenidion φ2 3, robust, slightly capitate; famulus k 8; all inserted at approximately same level. Seta d of tibiotarsus I 32, serrate. Solenidion ω of tarsus II length 4. Seta d of tibia II 17, serrate. Femorogenu IV 18; tibiotarsus IV 12. Length of leg IV setae: v’ F 11, v’ G 23, v´ Ti 35 and tc” 48; all setae smooth, except v´ Ti; v’ Ti tapering.
