Cryptolechia bifida sp. n. ( Figs. 10 View FIGURES 7–12 , 26 View FIGURES 25–28 )

Type material

Holotype: ♂, CHINA: Fangchenggang (21°37'N, 108°20'E), Guangxi, 640 m, 8.iv.2002, coll. Shulian Hao and Huaijun Xue. GoogleMaps Paratypes: 3 ♂, 2 ♀, same data as holotype except 7–9.iv.2002 GoogleMaps .

Diagnosis

This species shares with C. mirabilis a bilobed uncus in the male genitalia. It can be distinguished from C. mirabilis by the valva bearing a small lobe at about ventral 2/3 and sacculus with a single distal process in the male genitalia; and by the corpus bursae with two linear signa in the female genitalia.

Description

Forewing length 12.0–13.0 mm. Head grayish brown. Labial palpus yellow, mixed with black scales; second segment with a spot formed by black scales at end; third segment slightly shorter than second, with black scales in medial portion. Antenna black. Thorax and tegula deep gray. Forewing lanceolate, ground color dark brown; costal margin with an invertedtriangular cream spot at about distal 1/5; a cream fascia extending from costal 2/5 to anteriorad of tornus; cilia yellow basally, deep gray distally. Hindwing and cilia gray. Legs whitish yellow; tibiae and tarsi deep gray on outside, with yellow rings.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 7–12 ): Uncus bilobed; basal 1/3 expanded laterally; distal 2/3 slender and straight, somewhat dilated distally. Valva elongate, distal 3/5 slightly wider than basal 2/5, apex rounded; costa with subtriangular projection at 2/5; ventral margin with a fingerlike process at about distal 3/5. Sacculus broadly triangular, less than 1/2 length of valva, distally with small hooked process at middle of apex. Aedeagus slender, straight, nearly as long as valva, narrow basally; vesica with sclerotized, irregularly shaped, spinous cornuti.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 25–28 ): Papilla analis somewhat wide coneshaped, sparsely setose. Anterior apophysis about 2/3 length of posterior apophysis. Lamella postvaginalis concave at middle. Ostium bursae with posterior margin concave mesally, laterally with small rounded, sclerotized process. Ductus bursae long, entirely sclerotized. Corpus bursae about 2/5 length of ductus bursae, oval, with two eyelashlike signa.

Etymology This specific name is derived from Latin bifidus (split in two), in reference to the shape of the uncus.

Cryptolechia robusta sp. n.

( Figs. 11 View FIGURES 7–12 , 27 View FIGURES 25–28 )

Type material

Holotype: ♂, CHINA: Wufeng (30°12'N, 116°40'E), Hubei Province, 1000 m, 10.vii.1999, coll. Houhun Li GoogleMaps et al. Paratypes: 4 ♂, 5 ♀, same data as holotype except 1000–1280 m, 10–22.vii.1999 GoogleMaps .

Diagnosis

This species is similar to C. malacobyrsa Meyrick both in facies and genitalia. Cryptolechia robusta can be separated from C. malacobyrsa by the longer, more slender uncus, the aedeagus with several large clusters of small cornuti, and the corpus bursae without a signum.

Description

Forewing length 16.0–17.0 mm. Head yellow. Labial palpus yellow, sparsely mixed with brown scales on second segment. Antenna pale yellowish brown, ringed with yellow on flagellum. Thorax, tegula, and forewing pale yellow, with scattered brown scales; a small brown dot at middle of cell; first brown fascia from costal 3/5 reaching posteriad to tornus, second brown fascia extending from apex obliquely interoposteriorly to tornus and joined with the first fascia, forming a somewhat Vshaped pattern; cilia yellow mixed with gray. Hindwing and cilia pale gray. Legs whitish yellow, slightly tinged with brown on tarsi.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 7–12 ): Uncus slender, as long as height of tegumen, slightly dilated distally. Tegumen broad, large Ushaped. Valva relatively broad; costa gently concave mesally, with dense stout setae in basal 1/4, with long setae from 1/4 to about 3/4; ventral margin sclerotized in basal 2/3, terminating in a spinelike process. Sacculus large, broad, distally produced into a large, rounded, heavily sclerotized process. Saccus large with apex bluntly rounded. Aedeagus stout, narrow basally, expanding to about 1/3; distal 2/3 with about 5 large clusters of fine cornuti.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 27 View FIGURES 25–28 ): Papilla analis short, broad, setose. Anterior apophysis about 1/2 as long as posterior apophysis. Lamella postvaginalis broad, concave mesally, with large setae along posterior margin. Ostium bursae broadened, caudal margin narrowly concave mesally. Ductus bursae broad, less than 1/2 length of corpus bursae. Corpus bursae irregularly elliptical, without signum.

Etymology The specific name is from the Latin robustus (stout), in reference to the aedeagus.
