Distribution:— America. Mexico Northwest, Mexico Northeast, Mexico Central, Mexico Gulf and Mexico Southwest.

Notes:— This species flowers before the leaves are produced, therefore fertile specimens, including the types, appear depauperate.The northernmost collection of subgenus Linostachys belongs to this species and occurs in the Mexican municipality of Álamos (Sonora state).
