( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 19 – 24. 19 )

Description. Female. Integument piceous, clothed with minute gray vestiture and pattern of yellowish and black markings. Vertex with a single longitudinal line of whitish pubescence. Antennae mostly covered with grayish-brown pubescence, antennomeres IV – X with the basal half covered with white pubescence on the inner side. Pronotum with a longitudinal yellowish line on each side, on the outer margin, continuation of the patch of the gena, and three diffuse whitish longitudinal lines on the disk. Scutellum piceous, with a minute patch of yellowish pubescence in the middle of the apex. Elytra with three large patches of black pubescence, the anterior in the basal half, elongated, and situated near the outer-external carina the second one oval and post-median, equidistant from the outer margin and lateral carina; and a third minute, subquadrate, in the apical fourth. The yellow pubescence covers dorsally the area between the first and second black patches. Legs covered with grayish pubescence and a ring of white pubescence in the middle of the meso- and metatibiae. Sides of urosternites II – IV covered with dense yellowish pubescence.

Antennae exceeding elytral apices by 5 segments, segments 3 – 11 gradually decreasing in length. Sides of the prothorax slightly divergent posteriorly, without tubercles or callosities on the posterior margin. Pronotum with a line of punctures on the posterior border. Prosternum with intercoxal process broad, as wide as one coxa; mesosternal process as wide as one coxa. Elytra with humeri rounded and sharply oblique. Apices slightly emarginate-truncate, inner angle rounded, outer angle produced in an acute spine; punctation moderately sparse over the entire surface. Urotergite 5 with apex slightly emarginate; urosternite 5 black and shiny, apex slightly emarginate.

Measurements (mm), female. Total length, 8.0 – 9.0; prothorax length, 14 – 1.5; prothorax width, 18 – 2.2; elytral length, 5.7 – 6.7; humeral width, 2.5 – 2.8.

Etymology. The species is named after Dr. James Wappes (ACMT), in recognition of his great contribution to the knowledge of Neotropical Cerambycidae .

Type material. Holotype female, BOLIVIA, Santa Cruz: Chaco above Achira (1730 m), female, 22 – 25.I.2007, Wappes & Lingafelter leg. ( MNKM). Paratypes, female, same data ( ACMT), female ( MNRJ).

Comments. The pattern and coloration of Colobothea wappesi Monné & Monné sp. nov. are similar to those of C. declivis Aurivillius, 1902 , but the yellow lateral stripe of the pronotum is not projected on the elytra, the humeri are sharply oblique, and the metasternum lacks patches of yellow pubescence. In C. declivis the yellow lateral stripe of the pronotum is projected posteriorly on the basal ¼ or 1/3 of the elytra; the humeri are less oblique, and the metasternum has a more or less developed patch of yellow pubescence.
