Lectotype locality. Yarmouth , Norfolk, England, UK.

Voucher. HEC 14740, 22 September 2001, Grand Baie (s.s. 11) .

Ecology. On coral fragments and shell debris in shallow (some mm), siltysandy pools from high to mid-intertidal level; frequent).

Indian Ocean distribution. Aldabra Islands, Australia, Bahrain, India, Iran, Kenya, Kuwait, Laccadives, Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius ( Børgesen, 1945: 62; 1953: 56), Pakistan, Qatar, Rodrigues (this paper), Saudi Arabia, Seychelles,

Somalia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Yemen.

Note. According to Jaasund (1977: 412), the specimens mentioned by Børgesen (1945: 62) in fact belong to C. collinsiana .

Type locality. Mokha, Yemen.

Vouchers. HEC 14618, 18 September 2001, western side of Cotton Bay (s.s. 13) ; HEC 14866, 30 September 2001, South-West Lagoon (s.s. 31) .

Ecology. Epilithic; one collection in high intertidal rock pools; continuously submerged; forming extensive populations in some pools. The other collection in a pool at about spring low water mark.

Indian Ocean distribution. Aldabra Islands, Andaman Islands, south-east coast of Arabia, Australia, Bahrain, Djibouti, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Kuwait, Laccadives, Mauritius ( Børgesen, 1942: 15; 1945: 47; 1952: 64; 1954: 46), Nicobar Islands, Qatar, Réunion ( Montagne and Millardet, 1862: 19; Payri, 1985: 640), Rodrigues (Dickie, 1977: 6, as L. papillosa ), Seychelles, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Yemen.
