Aphanius asquamatus (Sözer, 1942)

Locality—Lake Hazar (six specimens)

Description. (1) Outline: nearly quadratic, rarely rounded trapezoidal ( Figure 7m ); (2) excisura: widely V-shaped, deeply incised; (3) rostrum: longer than the antirostrum; (4) dorsal rim: straight or slightly convex; (5) posterior rim: slightly convex, rarely sloping; (6) ventral rim: straight; (7) sulcus: deeply incised along its length; it may be covered with some middle-sized colliculi; (8) ostium: (broadly) V-shaped; (9) cauda: straight, rounded at its end, in one case the cauda is bent in the dorsal direction (not figured); (10) crista superior: robust, thickened, five of the six pairs of otoliths display a distinctly deepened area above the crista superior; (11) inner face: relatively flat; (12) outer face: distinctly convex, one specimen yielded flat otoliths (one of these two otoliths is illustrated in Figure 7m ).
