Agonocryptus lioneli Gupta, 1982 . Original description, subspecies assignment, female, keyed, map.

Agonocryptus lioneli: Yu et al., 2006 . Catalog.

Variation. Fore wing of most specimens (8 of 9) without central brownish mark ( Fig. 8D ) (vs. present). Specimens from Capão do Leão (Rio Grande do Sul State, southern Brazil) with T1 basally black centrally reddish brown, apically white ( Fig. 8C ), or black with mid apical yellowish spot ( Fig. 8F ) (vs. apically and basally yellow, black in the middle, laterally brownish red); hind femur dorsally on apical half ( Fig. 8D ), or entire dorsal side, blackish (vs. hind femur entirely reddish orange).

Distribution. Argentina, and Brazil (Ceará, Espírito Santo, Rio Grande do Sul NR, São Paulo NR) ( Fig. 19G ). Bootstrap analysis suggests that this species occurs typically between 100–500 m, like most Agonocryptus spp. ( Fig. 21D ).
