Afropictinus nauplius sp. nov.

Material studied. HOLOTYPE, male ( CNC): Tanzania, North Pare / Mts., Kindoroko For. / S3.74313°, E37.65022° / 1987m, 23.xii.2012, sift 18 / 25 V. Grebennikov leg // CNCCOLVG / 0 0 0 0 5721 . PARATYPE: male ( CEHI): same locality as holotype, specimen 5719.

Diagnosis. This species is easily recognized and distinguished from other species by its dentiform postocular lobes.

Description. Larger species (body length 4.2 mm), surface glabrous, colouration uniformly reddish brown. Head as long as wide (18/18); genae produced as long as antennal sement I, cleft at apex; antennae 1.55 times as long as width of head, segments I/II/III/IV = 7.5/4/10/6.5; postocular lobes anteriorly dentiform then straightly converging posteriorly. Thorax with pronotum more than 3 times as wide as long (32/9.5), paranota wide and rounded, slightly reflexed and strongly produced anterolaterally, lateral margins convex. Scutellum 2.7 times as wide as long (26/9.5). Mtg I+II with smooth surface, separated by a distinct sulcus. Abdomen with slight but wide median elevation of tergal plate, smooth on mtg III, highest on IV, curved deep furrows marking anterolateral margin of mtg IV–VI. Pygophore large, median dorsal ridge conical posteriorly. Measurements. Holotype male: length 4.2 mm; length antennae 1.4 mm; width of abdomen 2.05 mm. Paratype male: length 4.2 mm; antennae 1.37 mm; with abdomen 2.0 mm.

Etymology. The species epithet is a Latinized Greek mythical name of Nauplius , an Argonaut, offered to steer Argo after the death of Tiphys; noun in apposition.

Distribution. This species is known from Tanzania: North Pare Mts.
