The species is known from the Neotropics ( Brazil, the Galapagos Islands, Colombia, Venezuela) and elsewhere from Africa ( Kenya) and Australia ( Egea & Tibell 1993; López-Figueiras 1986; Tibell 1996; Rogers 2014).
