Zoea I. Cephalothorax ( Fig. 3A View FIGURE 3 ): Globose and finely coated with spinules, with dorsal and rostral spines present, lateral spines absent. Dorsal spine short, no longer than the height of the carapace and slightly curved posteriorly, anteromedial process absent. Rostral spine smaller than protopodal process of the antenna. A pair of antero-dorsal and postero-dorsal simple setae. Ventral margin with 4 plumose setae inner positioned, the anterior one much longer than the others. Eyes sessile.

Antennule ( Fig. 3C View FIGURE 3 ): Primary flagellum with two terminal simple setae (one short and one long) and 4 terminal aesthetascs unequal sized. Accessory flagellum absent.

Antenna ( Fig. 3D View FIGURE 3 ): Biramous. Elongated protopodal without spiny process. Unsegmented endopod, short and as a rounded bud. Elongated exopod pointed terminally, overreaching half of the protopodal process, with marginal spinules and with 2 medial spinulated unequal setae.

Mandible: Incisor and molar processes developed, irregularly dentated. Palp absent.

Maxillule ( Fig. 3F View FIGURE 3 ): Uniramous. Coxal endite with 7 setae (3 plumose setae + 4 plumodenticulate setae). Basial endite with 7 setae (1 proximal plumose seta + 3 plumodenticulate setae + 3 cuspidate setae). Note that in one specimen the setal pattern of the basial endite was 1+1+3+3. Endopod comprising 2 articles with 1, 1+2+2 sparsely plumose setae, respectively. In three specimens setation pattern was 1, 2+2+2 setae. Epipod and exopod setae absent.

Maxilla ( Fig. 3E View FIGURE 3 ): Biramous. Coxal endite bilobed with 5 + 4 plumose setae. Basial endite as coxal endite. Endopod not bilobed, without articulation, with 4 sparsely plumose distal setae. In two specimens was reported 5 setae. Scaphognathite (exopod) with 10–11 marginal plumose setae plus a distal stout plumose process.

First maxilliped ( Fig. 3G View FIGURE 3 ): Biramous. Coxa with 1 simple seta. Basis with 9 medial sparsely plumose setae arranged as 2+2+2+3. Endopod comprising 5 articles slightly longer than exopod, with 3, 2, 1, 2, 5 (1 subterminal + 4 terminal) sparsely plumose setae. Unsegmented exopod with 4 plumose natatory setae.

Second maxilliped ( Fig. 3H View FIGURE 3 ): Biramous. Coxa without setae. Basis with 3 sparsely plumose setae aligned along the ventral margin. Endopod comprising 3 articles, smaller than exopod, with 0, 1, 4 setae (1 long + 2 short sparsely plumose setae + 1 plumodenticulate seta). Unsegmented exopod with 4 plumose natatory setae.

Third maxilliped: As incipient bud.

Pereiopods: As incipient buds.

Pleon ( Fig. 3B View FIGURE 3 ): Five pleomeres. Pleomeres I–V with pair of simple setae on postero-dorsal margin, those located on the first pleomere much longer than the others. Second and third pleomeres with pair of dorso-lateral spinous processes directed anteriorly and posteriorly, respectively.

Pleopods: Uniramous. Incipient pleopods buds on pleomeres II–V. Endopods absent.

Telson ( Fig. 3B View FIGURE 3 ): Bifurcated, with deep median cleft and three pairs of plumodenticulate setae on posterior margin. Telson forks with a strong dorso-lateral spinous process on outer margin, and slightly denticulate at distal part.

Zoea II. Cephalothorax ( Fig. 4A View FIGURE 4 ): Three pairs of minute simple setae in frontal region plus other one at base of the dorsal spine. Well-developed supraocular eaves and barely perceptible anteriomedial process. Ventral margin with 3 plumose (2 long + 1 short) setae plus 3 sparsely plumose setae. Eyes stalked and movable.

Antennule ( Fig. 4B View FIGURE 4 ): Primary flagellum with short terminal simple seta and 7 terminal aesthetascs. Accessory flagellum as a small bud.

Antenna ( Fig. 4C View FIGURE 4 ): Slightly spiny protopod in distal half. Endopod elongated and naked, almost as long as exopod.

Maxillule ( Fig. 4F View FIGURE 4 ): Biramous. Coxal endite with 8 setae (4 subterminal plus 4 terminal plumose). Basial endite with 10 setae (3 lateral plumose + 3 subterminal plumodenticulate + 4 terminal cuspidate). Exopod seta present. Endopod unchanged.

Maxilla ( Fig. 4E View FIGURE 4 ): Basial endite now with 5 + 5 sparsely plumodenticulate setae. Scaphognathite with 20–21 plumose marginal setae, stout process now reduced to same size as rest.

First maxilliped ( Fig. 4G View FIGURE 4 ): Exopod with 6 natatory setae.

Second maxilliped ( Fig. 4H View FIGURE 4 ): Exopod with 6 natatory setae.

Third maxilliped: Biramous bud.

Pereiopods: First pereiopod with cheliped bilobed. Ambulatory legs unsegmented buds and smaller.

Pleon ( Fig. 4D View FIGURE 4 ): Six pleomeres. Pleomeres I with 3 plumose dorsal setae. Pleomeres II and III with two pairs of simple setae on dorsal margin. Pleomeres IV and V as first zoea. Pleomere VI without setae. Setae located on the first pleonite much longer than the others.

Pleopods ( Fig. 4A View FIGURE 4 ): Biramous. Endopod buds present, more elongated.

Megalopa. Cephalothorax ( Fig. 5A, B View FIGURE 5 ): Longer than broad, with small rostrum ventrally directed, rounded, showing a central longitudinal suture with a pair of setae at the base and one more seta on each lateral margin. Well-developed supraocular eaves. Hepatic regions with one anterior subacute tubercle with one simple seta. Mesogastric and metagastric regions showing certain elevations that look like small blunt tubercles. Cardiac region with a blunt tubercle greater than previous ones. Intestinal region marked by a small blunt tubercle bearing a pair of setae. Postero-dorsal margin with series of simple setae. Ocular peduncle with simple seta on anterior margin.

Antennule ( Fig. 6A View FIGURE 6 ): Peduncle comprising 2 articles, with 2 and 1 simple setae, respectively. Primary flagellum comprising 4 articles, with 0, 12, 4, 0 aesthetascs and 0, 1, 0, 3 simple setae, respectively. Accessory flagellum not articulated with 1 subterminal and 2 terminal long simple setae.

Antenna ( Fig. 6B View FIGURE 6 ): Uniramous. Coxa with small ventrally directed process and 1 distal simple seta. Basis with 2 simple setae. Endopod comprising 5 articles with 3 simple setae, 0, 0, 2 long plus 2 shorter simple setae, and 3 long plus 1 shorter simple seta, respectively.

Mandible ( Fig. 6C View FIGURE 6 ): Palp comprising 3 articles, with 0, 0, 5 terminal plumose setae, respectively.

Maxillule ( Fig. 6D View FIGURE 6 ): Coxal endite with 10 setae (3 plumose + 7 sparsely plumodenticulate). Basial endite with 18 setae (2 proximal plumose + 5 subterminal sparsely plumodenticulate + 11 terminal plumodenticulate). Endopod unsegmented with 2 short apical setae. Exopod represented as small tubercle.

Maxilla ( Fig. 6E View FIGURE 6 ): Coxal endite bilobate, with 7 terminal plumose setae plus 3 sparsely plumose setae. Basial endite with 6 + 6 sparsely plumodenticulate setae. Endopod not articulated and without setae. Scaphognathite with 46 marginal plumose setae plus 2 small simple setae on the inner surface and other one on the outer.

First maxilliped ( Fig. 6F View FIGURE 6 ): Coxal endite with 7 plumose setae. Basial endite with 12 sparsely plumodenticulate setae. Endopod reduced, not articulated and without setae. Exopod comprising 2 articles, with plumose distal seta on proximal article and 4 terminal plumose setae on distal article. Epipod with 1+11 simple setae.

Second maxilliped ( Fig. 6G View FIGURE 6 ): Coxa and basis devoid of setae. Endopod comprising 4 articles with 0, 1, 3, 1+5 plumodenticulate setae, respectively. Exopod comprising 2 articles with 0, 4 terminal plumose setae, respectively.

Third maxilliped ( Fig. 6H View FIGURE 6 ): Protopod with 8 simple setae. Endopod comprising 5 articles, with 12+1, 6+3, 4+2, 5+1, 4 setae, respectively. Exopod comprising 2 articles shorter than endopod, with 4 plumose terminal setae on distal article. Epipod with 3+13 simple setae plus a long sparsely apical plumose seta.

Sternum ( Fig. 5C View FIGURE 5 ): Sternites I–IV fused into a triangular-shaped plate, with an anterior pair of minute setae and 3 pairs more at base of cheliped.

Pereiopods ( Fig. 5A View FIGURE 5 ): Pereiopods sparsely setose as shown. Pereiopods II–V with dactylus terminally acute.

Pleon ( Figs 5A, D View FIGURE 5 ): Pleon with 6 pleomeres. Pleomere I with a pair of simple setae on each postero-lateral margin. Pleomeres II–V with a simple setae on their postero-lateral margin plus 2 pairs of simple setae on their postero-dorsal margin (3 pairs on pleomere IV), with the central ones being shorter. Pleomere VI only with a pair of small setae on postero-dorsal margin.

Pleopods ( Figs 5E–H View FIGURE 5 ): Present on pleomeres II–V. Endopods with 2 apical cincinuli. Exopods with 13, 14, 13, 11 long plumose natatory setae, respectively. Uropods ( Fig. 5I View FIGURE 5 ) uniramous with 5 long plumose setae.

Telson ( Fig. 5C View FIGURE 5 ): Semicircular, with a pair of dorsal setae and another on the ventral side.
