Remarks. This species, the only one from the genus to occur in the Philippines, is previously known from a female from Luzon (Los Baños, Manila, Laguna, Baubo?). From Agusan del Sur, we collected a male specimen which shares strong superficial resemblance with the female holotype. Nonetheless, in our male, the pronotal lateral lobe has a broad U-shaped pattern (instead of two spots in the female holotype). This could be a form of sexual dimorphism, since other congeneric males also have S-shaped patterns, or that this could be a genuine species difference. That the female holotype was described from northern Philippines whereas our specimen was collected from southern Philippines also suggests that they may be different species. However, owing to the lack of Strophiola material from both parts of Philippines, we refrain from describing the specimen from Mindanao as a new species for now.
Our male specimen differs from Strophiola tangkoko Gorochov, 2011 from Sulawesi by the posterior dividing vein of the mirror more strongly bent (instead of rounded), and the pseudepiphallic lophi pointing posteriorly and parallel to one another (instead of slightly curved inwards) ( Fig. 35 View FIGURE 35 ). From Strophiola renschi Gorochov, 1996 from Lesser Sunda Islands, our specimen differs by the distinctly shorter pseudepiphallic parameres, and the endophallic sclerite having two short and wide anterior projections and two longer and narrower posterior projections. Likewise, our specimen differs from Strophiola xanthella Gorochov, 1996 from Sulawesi by the shape of the endophallic sclerite.
Ecology. This species is found to primarily inhabit on top of plants, often among understory plants. It has also been observed to be attracted to light.
Type locality. PHILIPPINES, Luzon Island
Distribution. PHILIPPINES (Luzon Island: Los Baños, Manila, Laguna, Baubo?; Mindanao Island: Agusan del Sur)
