Stegnogramma wilfordii (Hook.) Seriz. View in CoL ( Fig. 13 View FIGURE 13 )
Type:— TAIWAN. Keelung City, June 1860, Wilford 503 (holotype: K-000951546, image seen).
Voucher specimens examined:— VIETNAM. Lam Dong Province, Lac Duong District, Da Chais Commune, Giang Ly, Tieu khu 86, ca. 1200 m, 12.230° N, 108.676° E, 10 February 2020, C.- W. Chen Wade6010 ( SGN!, TAIF!).
Additional specimens examined:— CHINA. Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Wuming County, Mt. Daming, 31 March 2013, C.- W. Chen Wade2352 ( TAIF!). JAPAN. Kagoshima, Yakushima Island, Hanaage River, 30 September 2015, C.- W. Chen Wade4507 (TAIF-499519!, TAIF-499520!). TAIWAN. Ilan County, Chiuliao Stream, P.- F. Lu 18971 (TAIF-335708!).
Distribution:—Previously only known from China, Japan, and Taiwan.
Ecology:—This species grows on slope along streams under broad-leaved evergreen forest at altitudes of ca. 1100 m.
Note:—Morphologically, S. wilfordii is most similar to S. griffithii (T.Moore) Iwatsuki (1963: 117) but can be distinguished from that species by having the combination of following characters: lamina pinnatifid or sometimes with one pair of lateral free-pinna, lamina densely covered with acicular hairs abaxially, terminal pinnae lobbed, and venation reticulate ( Lin et al. 2013; Chen et al. 2019). Although S. wilfordii was previously recorded for Vietnam in Flora of China ( Lin et al. 2013) and then followed by Hassler & Schmitt (2019 onwards), no specimen was cited there. The only voucher of S. wilfordii from Vietnam we could locate was a wrongly identified specimen collected from northern Vietnam in TAIF (Barcode 378058). After examination, we confirmed that specimen is an immature and sterile plant of S. griffithii . As a result, we think the previous northern Vietnam record is merely an error and our new collection from Lang Biang is the first confirmed record of S. wilfordii in Vietnam instead.
