ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1865c: 194.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Alpibus [Alps]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype (missing mid-legs) ( MZUF: Box 9): Siphona Mg. Bucentes Latr. / chetolyga [sic!] Rnd., Alpi / 433 / Siphona geniculata (DeGeer) , det. Stig. Andersen.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Siphona cristata ( Fabricius, 1805) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 334) ; junior synonym of Siphona geniculata (De Geer, 1776) ( Andersen 1996: 94) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1865c 194) described Siphona chetoliga from just the female sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens. Andersen (1996: 94) considered the single MZUF female as the holotype.
