Selman notatus ( Taschenberg, 1870)

Monedula notata Taschenberg, 1870 . Syntype males, Argentina: Entre Rios, Paraná (MLUH; not examined).

Selman angustus Parker, 1929 . Holotype female, Brasil: Mato Grosso, Chapada dos Guimarães (CMNH; not examined).

Selman notatus was originally described from Entre Ríos, Argentina, and is currently known from the Argentinean provinces of Catamarca, Chaco, Córdoba, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Formosa, La Rioja, Mendoza, Misiones, San Juan, Santa Fe, San Luis, Santiago del Estero and Tucumán ( Jörgensen 1912; Parker 1942; Willink 1947; Fritz 1982). The species has been recorded also from Uruguay ( Handlirsch 1895), from Asunción, in Paraguay (Strand 1910) and from the Brazilian states of Mato Grosso ( Parker 1929), Espírito Santo ( Amarante 2002), and Rio Grande do Sul ( Handlirsch 1890). Among the material examined here, the species is newly recorded from the Paraguayan departments of Concepción, Cordillera and Paraguarí.
