Range: —Guianas; Bolivia ( BE, CH, CO, LP, SC, TA) to Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. Ecology : — Common ; terrestrial in humid forests; to 2600 m. Notes: —The auricles on the lateral leaves of the related and also common Selaginella diffusa are more deflexed and usually long-ciliate. Both flagelliform and non-flagelliform apices occur in variants of this species ( Alston et al. 1981).
