status

Selaginella chrysoleuca Spring, Bull. Acad. Roy. Sci. Bruxelles View in CoL 10: 226. 1843.

Range: — Panama; Andes from Venezuela to Bolivia (LP).

Ecology: —Fairly common; terrestrial in damp soil, on shaded slopes of ravines, and among mosses on rocks, in humid forests; 1100–1700 m.

Notes: —A distinctive, erect species, with leaves that often have a bluish sheen (especially in young, unbranched plants). The branching is usually irregular and does not form a leaf-like plane. Plants may grow flat on the ground (but without forming rhizophores beyond the basal main stems) and are then often unbranched.
