Remarks on S. fjellbergi (Dunger) and S. oirota (Vilkamaa)

Material. S. oirota : 4 paratypes labeled as “USSR, RSFSR, Altaisky Kray , 7 km W Katanda, 21.6– 26.7.1983. Exped. Mikkola, Hippa & Jalava” ( ZMUH) .

S. fjellbergi : about a hundred specimens from steppe regions of Tuva, Krasnoyarsky Kray and Buryatia ( MSPU) .

These species share such features as simple maxillary palp, presence of ventral chaetae on Th.III, and peculiar modification of Abd.V which is swollen and bears thickened chaetae in the p-row. The only difference is the number of teeth on mucro (2 in S. fjellbergi and 3 in S. oirota ). In the key we keep them as separate taxa, but the latter may just be a local form of S. fjellbergi and its species status has to be confirmed.
