Saga puella Werner, 1901 View in CoL
Distribution: This species is endemic to Anatolia ( Kaltenbach 1964, 1967). The distribution of species in Anatolia is diverse mostly in Aegean part ( Figure 5A View FIGURE 5 ) of it ( Uvarov 1930, 1934; Ramme 1951: Karabağ 1958; Kaltenbach 1964, 1967; Önder et al. 1999; Tazegül & Önder 2012; Mol et al., 2016).
Song recording: Male specimens were collected from Turkey; İzmir, Selçuk, Şirince, near Mathematics Camp- ing Village area, N: 37°57.10, E 27°25.41, 350 m., 01.VII.2018, leg.: D. Sirin, M.S. Taylan, and the calling songs are recorded from one male at 30 ˚C in the room conditions (by D. Şirin), İzmir, Selçuk, around Efes (Ephesus) Ancient city, N: 37°56.40, E: 27°20.55, 130m., 01.VII.2018, leg.: D. Sirin, M.S. Taylan, and the calling songs are recorded from two males at 29 ˚C in the room conditions (by D. Şirin & M.S. Taylan).
Description of song: Totally, 13 records from three males were examined. The calling song consists of phrases ( Figure 5B View FIGURE 5 ) with irregular intervals. Phrase durations vary between 0.58 and 1.16 s (1.00 ± 0.09), and each phrase contains 22–55 syllables (45.25 ± 4.16). The phrase generally begins with low amplitude first syllable, which is shorter than the ordinary syllables and lasts for 10.9–18.5 ms (13.84 ± 2.17). The phrase starts with 4–10 lower amplitudes syllables (generally corresponding to 1/4) and continues with a crescending sequence and reaches for the highest amplitude at the end of this part. The remaining syllables have quite similar amplitude ( Figure 5C View FIGURE 5 ). The oscillographic analyses show that the ordinary syllable periods duration varies between 10.9 and 45.91 ms (21.71 ± 2.34), and each ordinary syllable shows a standard structure which is formulated as soft opening hemisyllable + loud closing hemisyllable ( Figure 5D View FIGURE 5 ). The phrase ends with last hemisyllable, which has a longer duration than the previous syllables in phrase and its duration varies between 22.96–45.91 ms (31.17 ± 4.51).
