Basionym: Climacoptera Botsch. sect. Brachyphylla Pratov (1986: 23) .
‒ “ Salsola sect. Brachyphylla ” in Iljin (1936: 235), nom. inval., descr. ross. (Art. 39.1 of ICN: McNeill et al. 2012).
Type:— Pyankovia affinis (C.A. Mey. ex Schrenk) Mosyakin & Roalson (a new combination presented in this paper) ≡ Salsola affinis C.A. Meyer ex Schrenk (1843: 360) ≡ Climacoptera affinis (C.A. Mey. ex Schrenk) Botschantzev (1956: 114).
Description: ―Stems short-pubescent; leaves alternate (except the lowest ones, which are opposite or subopposite), mainly acute at apex; stigmas filiform, elongated, not sessile; seeds mostly horizontal, rarely vertical.
Included species: Pyankovia affinis (C.A. Mey. ex Schrenk) Mosyakin & Roalson and Pyankovia roborowskii (Iljin) Mosyakin & Roalson (new combinations presented in this paper).
