Trupanea orientalis Macquart, 1838: 96 View in CoL . Type locality: Indonesia? [Indes orientales] [Syntypes ♂, ♀, MNHNP]. World distribution: Indonesia [not India] ( Macquart 1838: 96; Lal 1960: 25; Oldroyd 1975: 154).
Note: No occurrence records are currently known from modern India. The previous Indian occurrence citations ( Lal 1960: 25; Joseph & Parui 1983a: 368) refers to the type locality, East Indies, which is considered a part of the islands of southeastern Asia not India.
