Priononyx Dahlbom 1843:28 . Type species: Pepsis thomae (Fabricius, 1804) [= Sphex thomae Fabricius, 1775 ], by monotypy. Group of thomae of Bohart & Menke 1963.

Diagnosis. Claws with four to five ventral teeth, male antenna with distinct placoids, free margin of female clypeus with U- or V-shaped median notch, and metapleuron not channeled.

Distribution. New World.
