Potomida semirugata ( Lamarck, 1819)

Lamarck (1819: 76) noted the type locality for this species was unknown. The native range of this species is reported as Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Turkey ( Lopes-Lima et al., 2021). Pallary (1939: 121) listed Unio (Limnium) salamboana Pallary, 1929 , considered a synonym of Potomida semirugata as this species from the area of Penjwin in eastern Iraq, near the Iran border. This reported specimen is from well outside of the reported range of P. semirugata and should be checked, as it may represent an undescribed or misidentified species.
