Specimens examined (n=1): Holotype; labelled “ India, Assam, Holotypus, Pheropsophus (Stenaptinus) andrewesi View in CoL , det. Ing. Jedlička ”; type in ZMHB
Description. Length: 11.0–15.0 mm.
Colour: Head, pronotum and elytra black; palps, legs, clypeus, labrum and two spots next to the antennae yellow-red. Segments 1–4 of antennae (yellowish red) lighter than 5–11 (dark brown).
Head: With fairly protruding eyes, flat frontal furrows, more or less wrinkled and punctured towards neck.
Pronotum: Wider than the head, longer than broad, apex and base straight, equally wide, sides convex, narrowed to the base, hind-quarter of the disc rectangular, basal fovea missing, median furrow deep.
Elytra: Humerus rounded; distinctly broadened towards the apex, strongly striated, intervals broad, flattened, apex straight truncated.
Geographical distribution. INDIA: Assam ( Jedlička 1964); Meghalaya: Khasi hills ( Kirschenhofer 2010)
Remarks. Morphologically similar to P. aptinoides , but differs with head, pronotum and elytra entirely black. It is endemic to the Indo-Burma hotspot of biodiversity.
