Type locality and specimens. Fundort [locality]: Korfu.

Dimensions. Länge des grössten [length of the largest specimen] ♂ 65 mm. ♂ mit 53, 55 und 57 Beinpaaren [leg pairs].

Type material. Syntypes 2 ( ZMH-A0000540 , ZMH-A0008164 ). GREECE: Corfu Island [ca. 39°37’N, 19°55’E] GoogleMaps .

Preservation. 1 jar: Label 1. Pectiniunguis europaeus Att. Original E. Kraepelin L. IV.1895 . Korfu (Kraepelin handwriting); Label 2. Syntypes Pectiniunguis europaeus R. E. Crabill vidit, 7. V.60, See reverse side! When found, 7. V.60, the head and mouthparts of one specimen were missing, as was the rear end of body. Probably Attems kept them in Vienna. This specimen was chiefly used in his original description (Crabill handwriting); Label 3. Syntype “B” ♂ dissected by me, 9. V.60. Parts on microscope slide, q. v.— Syntype “A” dissected probably by Attems ; ab- sent parts probably in Vienna. It seems likely that he used chiefly this specimen in describing the species.— Crabill , 9. V.60 (Crabill handwriting) .

Curatorial remarks. Attems (1903b) did not state the number of specimens in his description. 1 microscope preparation is held at the ZMH (note on file card: “1 Präp. Syntype. Korfu, Attems publ. 1903a S. 191–192. Dieses Präparat wurde von R. E. Crabill 1960 hergestellt [Preparation was done by R. E. Crabill in 1960.]”.).

Additional type material. There are 1♂, 2 slides ♂ (posterior body part, head; maxillae, mandibles) (syntypes) from Greece, Corfu (don. Hamburg Museum) at the NHMW (no. 4920) .

Current systematic position. Junior synonym of Haploschendyla grantii ( Pocock, 1891) according to Crabill (1962: 506).
