Oropezella longifrons View in CoL sp. nov.
( Figs 59–66 View FIGURES 59 – 66 , 118)
Diagnosis. Frons long, more than two-thirds length of the face; scutum brown, mesopleuron and mediotergite yellow, scutellum and postpronotal lobe pale brown; scutum entirely covered with scattered pruinescence; femora, fore and mid tibiae pale brown; hind femur pale yellow; tarsi brown; abdomen shiny brown, tergites 3–5 yellow on lateral margins.
Etymology. From the Latin “ longus ” (long), “ frons ” (forehead), in reference to the length of the frons which is almost as long as the face.
Description. Holotype male. Body: 2.7 mm. Wing: 2.7 mm. Head: antenna brown located slightly above middle of head; scape as long as pedicel; postpedicel lanceolate, 2.5 times longer than wide, as long as the scape and pedicel combined; stylus apical, bare and long, about 3.5 times length of antenna. Ocellar triangle protuberant; 1 elongate pair of ocellar setae, proclinate at 45º. Holoptic, frons long, more than two-thirds length of face. Proboscis yellow; palpus brown bearing 1 long apical and 1 shorter lateral bristle. Postcranium dark brown with brown to gray thin pruinescence; postoculars elongate, scattered, upper setae longest. Thorax: sub-shiny, entirely covered with pale brown thin and scattered pruinescence; scutum brown, scutellum and postpronotal lobe pale brown, mesopleuron and mediotergite yellow. Bristles thin, short and scattered; acr and dc uniserial. Differentiated bristles: 1 npl short and discreet; posterior dc not distinctly developed; 1 pal short; 1 long and strong apical sctl and 1 lateral bristle thin and about one-third length of apical. Wing (Fig. 118): sub-hyaline with golden iridescence; R1 meeting C at middle of wing; cell dm emitting 2 veins; cell cu p present. Legs: coxae and trochanters pale yellow; femora, fore and mid tibiae pale brown; hind femur pale yellow; hind tibia pale brown; tarsi brown. Bristles short and weak: mid tibia with 1A at middle and 1D near base; some V elongate bristles on hind femur. Abdomen: tergites brown except tergites 3–5 yellow on lateral margins; sternites pale brown; shiny with pruinescence only on tergite 8. Bristles brown, short, scattered and thin. Terminalia: hypandrium about 1.5 times longer than wide, apex concave ( Fig. 59 View FIGURES 59 – 66 ); epandrium not deeply cleft dorsally, epandrial lamellae broadly fused basally ( Fig. 60 View FIGURES 59 – 66 ); left epandrial lamella shorter than right with elongate dorsoapical process, robust in dorsal view ( Fig. 60 View FIGURES 59 – 66 ), slender in lateral view ( Fig. 62 View FIGURES 59 – 66 ); right surstylus short, spoon-like about half length of left ( Figs. 63 View FIGURES 59 – 66 ), left surstylus long and slender, curved inwards at mid-length ( Fig. 62 View FIGURES 59 – 66 ); articulated distal portion of phallus waved, simple, elongate, about half length of basal portion, basal process slender, about half length of articulated distal portion of phallus ( Fig. 61 View FIGURES 59 – 66 ). Female. Similar to male. Ovipositor ( Figs 64–66 View FIGURES 59 – 66 ): eighth segment somewhat short; tergite 8 deeply cleft medially on distal margin; sternite 8 narrow, three times longer than wide.
