Saprobic on dead herbaceous stems. Sexual morph: Ascomata 240–280 μm high, 210–250 μm diam. (x = 282.9 × 225.3 μm, n = 5), scattered, immersed, globose to subglobose or irregular in shape, glabrous, brown to dark brown, ostiolate. Ostiole 80–110 μm long, 50–75 μm diam., short papillate, black, smooth, filled with hyaline cells. Peridium 10–15 μm wide at the base, 20–30 μm wide in sides, comprising 4–5 layers, outer layer pigmented, comprising reddish brown to dark brown, thin-walled cells of textura angularis, inner layer composed of hyaline, loosen, cells of textura angularis. Hamathecium comprising numerous, 2–3 μm wide, filamentous, branched, septate, pseudoparaphyses. Asci 90–140 × 30–40 μm (x = 114.6 × 33.5 μm, n = 30), 8-spored, bitunicate, fissitunicate, clavate, with a short pedicel 7–15 μm long, apically rounded with broad ocular chamber. Ascospores 35–50 × 11–15 μm (x = 43.5 × 13.1 μm, n = 40), overlapping biseriate to triseriate, ellipsoidal to subfusiform, hyaline, 3–7-septate, with the primary septum almost median, deeply constricted at the middle septum, constricted at remaining septa, slightly curved, smooth-walled with small to large guttules in each cell, lacking guttules when dry, ends remaining cone-shaped, with pointed ends, surrounded by a distinct mucilaginous sheath. Asexual morph: Undetermined.

Culture characteristics:— Colonies on PDA reaching 3 cm diam. after 30 days at 25°C, circular, smooth margin white at first, dark grey after 4 weeks flat on the surface, without aerial mycelium, reverse greenish grey. Hyphae septate branched, hyaline, thin, smooth-walled.

Known distribution:— Thailand, on dead twigs.

Material examined:— Thailand, Chiang Rai, Muang Mae Fah Luang University (20 ° 044499’ N, 99 ° 899234’ E), on a dead twig of undetermined species, 3 July 2014, D.N. Wanasinghe and S. Konta ( MFLU 16-2524, holotype) isotype in BBH, ex-type living culture, MFLUCC 14-0917.
