Original combination. Metabasis variegata
Types. Blackburn referred to more than one specimen in his description. One Paralectotype is deposited in the Institut Royal des Sciences Naturelles de Belgique, two more are deposited in the South Australian Museum. Series/ Type locality. Near Port Lincoln, South Australia.
LECTOTYPE (here designated): T. 898 [written on card mount], Type [round, red-bordered label], Australia, Blackburn Coll., B. M. 1910-236, Metabasis variegata, Blackb. (BMNH; 1).
