Remarks: Among the Mangelia species distributed in the Mediterranean Sea, M. costulata is the easiest to identify due to its equal, thin and numerous spiral cords. The shell has a multispiral protoconch and orthocline axial ribs on teleoconch whorls (on the body whorl 9–10 ribs).

Distribution: Eastern Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea ( Gofas et al. 2011). Turkish coasts: Levantine Sea, Aegean Sea and Sea of Marmara (Özt̹rk et al. 2014).
