Lyclene clara ( Daniel, 1951) , stat. & comb. nov.

( Figs 1, 2 View FIGURES 1 – 8 , 9 View FIGURES 9 – 11 , 17 View FIGURES 17 – 19 )

Miltochrista tibeta clara Daniel, 1951 , Bonner zoologische Beiträge 2 (3–4): 311–312, Fig. 14 View FIGURES 12 – 16 (Type locality: “[SW China, North Yunnan] Likiang ”).

Type material examined. Holotype: male ( Figs 1 View FIGURES 1 – 8 , 9 View FIGURES 9 – 11 ), yellow label "Li-kiang, ca. 3000 m, Prov. Nord-Yuennan, 25.VII.1935, H. Höne [leg.]" / pink label "Typus" / pink label "Holotypus Miltochrista tibeta Dan. ssp. clara, Daniel 1947 , Zool. Staatssammlung München", slide AV 1820m Volynkin (Coll. ZFMK). Paratypes: 1 male, 2 females, same locality and collector as in holotype, but 10.VII. and 12.VII.1934 ; 8 males, 4 females, same locality and collector as in holotype, but 26.VII. , 30.VII. (2 males), 2.VIII., 10.VIII. (2 males), 4.IX., 21.IX., 24.IX. (2 females), 21.X.1935 (2 females), slide AV1821f Volynkin (all paratypes are deposited in coll. ZFMK).

Taxonomic notes. Besides external differences, L. clara stat. & comb. nov. ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 9 – 11 ) clearly differs from tibeta ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 9 – 11 ) in the male genitalia structure: its clasping apparatus is significantly larger than that of tibeta (but sizes of moths are very close), the tegumen is shorter and broader, the basal part of costa forms broader lobe with numerous small spines, the distal costal extension is shorter and less pointed, the apical lobe of valva is smaller, the distal saccular process is somewhat longer, the aedeagus presents a strong scobination dorso-apically, the vesica has one cluster of numerous narrow thorn-like cornuti of different sizes (in tibeta the vesica shows a subapical band of several large and strong cornuti, plus a medio-lateral band of several smaller thorn-like cornuti of different sizes). The cluster of numerous narrow thorn-like cornuti of different sizes in vesica in males, as well as presence of numerous small spinules in anterior part of corpus bursae in females, support the placement of the species in the genus Lyclene sensu lato and not Miltochrista ( Figs 10 View FIGURES 9 – 11 , 17 View FIGURES 17 – 19 ).

Redescription. Adult ( Figs 1, 2 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). Wingspan 23-27 mm. Male antennae finely ciliate, female antennae filiform. Body slender; head and thorax pink-reddish; abdomen reddish-brown. Fore wing broad, with rounded apex. Ground colour of fore wing pink-reddish, pattern reduced to dark grey suffusion in cell and between veins in central part of wing. Cilia pink-reddish. Hind wing paler than fore wing, carrot-pink. Male genitalia ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 9 – 11 ). Uncus long, moderately curved, narrow, subapically somewhat broadened, apically pointed; tuba analis broad, membranous; scaphium narrow, moderately sclerotised; subscaphium broad, as wide field of strong scobination; tegumen broad and short; manica narrow, with strong scobination; juxta large, shield-like, with two ventral broadly trigonal, with setose margins; sacculus large, U-like. Valva long and narrow, slightly curved dorsally at distal part; costa strongly sclerotised, its basal part forming a broad lobe with strong dentation, apical extension trigonal, short, broad; apical lobe of valva small, rounded; sacculus strongly sclerotised, setose, its apical extension strongly sclerotised, apically pointed, extending slightly beyond the valva's apex. Aedeagus long and narrow, with strong dentation apico-dorsally; vesica curved latero-dorsally, its basal section with strong scobination; medial diverticulum broad, oblong, with small conical additional diverticulum latero-apically, and bunch of numerous spine-like cornuti of different size apico-ventrally; apical dorsal diverticulum conical, slightly curved; basal sclerotised plate of ductus ejaculatorius long and narrow. Female genitalia ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 17 – 19 ). Papillae anales broad, rectangular; apophyses anteriores and posteriores narrow, moderately long, the former slightly longer than latter; postvaginal area scobinate; ostium bursae moderately broad, strongly scobinate; duscuts bursae short, rugosemembranous; posterior part of corpus bursae oblong, narrower than anterior one, with clusters of numerous strong spinules; anterior part of corpus bursae globular, with numerous small spinules and small round setose signum; appendix bursae small, broadly conical, slightly scobinate.
