Bahia : Serra dos Lençóis about 7–10 km along the main Seabra–Itaberaba road, W of the Lençóis turning, by the rio Mucugézinho, ca. 800 m, 41°26’S, 12°28’W, 27 May 1980, R.M. Harley et al. 22716 (holotype: UB [not seen]; isotypes: CEPEC e! [CEPEC66575], HUEFS e! [HUEFS66575], K e! [K000069174], NY [NY01239477], SPF [SPF00020670], U e! [U0008515], UEC [UEC108542], US [ US 00147442, US 01106279]).
Distribution and habitat: — Brazil ( Bahia , in the Chapada Diamantina ). Campo rupestre.
Taxonomic notes: —Known from few collections. Distinctive features are its oblong to obovate leaves and capitula in pseudoglomerules. Its leaf sheath is somewhat intermediate between the typical pad-like of Lychnophorella and Piptolepis , and the one of L. brunioides and L. souzae . Its capitula are sometimes shortly pedunculate like those of L. souzae .
