NOTES: G. Lister (1923b: 34–35) stated “This variety has been obtained many times in a wooded ravine near Llanymawddwy, Noth Wales, by Lady Bradford and myself, from Hexham by Miss E.K. Higgins, from Porlock, by Mr. N. G. Hadden, from Keswick by Mr. W. N. Cheesman, from Aberdeenshire by the Rev. W. Cran, from near Berlin by Dr. Jahn, from Vosges mountains by M. Demange and from the Jura by M. Ch. Meylan ”. Of all these collections, in BM we found the following; BM 2296 , BM 2157 , BM 2973 . We selected as the lectotype BM 2296 , which is material from Bryn. 29.9.00 with notes in notebooks XVIII: 155 and XIX: 18, and was collected by G.Lister [Bryn Hall was the home of Lady Bradford, in Llanymawddwy, North Wales]. The collection is also in good condition and is one of the first mentioned. In the same box, on other card strips, there is material from Porlock. 10.20 XXXIX: 136, Loch of Skene 21.10.12 XXXIV: 1, and Aberdeen Cran 128 11/98 XVII: 76. This variety brevipes “short foot” is currently thought to be within the variability of the species and has no taxonomic recognition .
