Hexorthodes montara Smith, 1910 , NEW SYNONYM
Based on an examination of types (USNM), it is obvious that Smith named the two sexes of this species as different species: ‘ Polia ’ montara is the male and ‘ Polia ’ nipana the female. The name nipana appears first, and I treat montara as a synonym.
The fact that H. nipana was misplaced in Polia was pointed out by McCabe (1980). Based on the structure of the male genitalia ( Fig. 63 View FIGURES 40 – 63 ), H. nipana fits well into Hexorthodes , for which McDunnough (1943) designated H. serrata (Smith, 1900) as the type species. This species has very similar genitalia to H. nipana .
