NOTES: In the description of this variety Lister (1894: 176) commented “The var. leiotricha is a form which has been met with on five occasions—three times in a larch plantation near Lyme Regis, once in a fir wood at Leighton Buzzard,

and on dead leaves at Sande , Norway ”. In BM there are two boxes labelled “ Type collection”, BM 2978 from Charton

Plantation (larch), Uplyme, Devon, and BM 2981 , from Bedfordshire , and another BM 1278 from Sande , but this box has various different collections mixed. We select BM 2978 as the lectotype and the others as syntypes. There are three slides labelled L:B.M.146, one is a dry mount with a small fragment of material, the others microscopic preparations .

No notebooks found. This var. leiotricha “smooth thread” was raised to species rank by Lister (1911) himself, in the second monograph and is still currently accepted.
