Descriptive notes. Head-body 80-151 mm, tail 94-114 mm, ear 15-19 mm, hindfoot 25-29 mm; weight 20-44 g.
Chapman’s Rice Rat is medium-sized species of “ Handleyomys ,” characterized by darker dorsum, varying from brown to brown mixed with black; ears are blackish and moderately small; and tail is unicolored.
Habitat. Cloud forest and grassy areas inside forests of pine-oak at elevations of 1550-2500 m.
