Gymnocaesio gymnoptera (Bleeker 1856) —Slender fusilier

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on photograph taken on 1 June 2013 during ACIAR Aquarium Survey in Kavieng District; other specimens photographed at St. KVG 17 on the Bismarck Sea side of northern Kavieng District by Serge Andréfouët on 18 Aug. 2014 .

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea, East Africa, Madagascar and western Mascarenes east to New Guinea and Fiji, north to Philippines, south to Loyalty Islands. Found in schools along seaward coral reefs, 0–150 m depth. Marine.
