Revised description. Shell large, robust, broad ovoid, with decollate apex and incised suture. Protoconch unknown. Spire moderately low, conical to cyrtoconoid, weakly gradate. Spire whorls flat-sided to weakly convex with narrow shoulder and periphery at abapical suture. Last whorl high, subcylindrical to weakly convex, rarely slightly pinched below shoulder. Base weakly to moderately constricted. Shell surface smooth except for few weak spiral cords on base.Aperture moderately narrow.Anal canal sharply incised, V-shaped, callused. Outer lip thickened with weakly developed internal labial callus pad in upper third and straight margin, denticulate with about 10–12 small denticles within. Siphonal canal short, wide, moderately deeply notched at tip. Columellar callus strongly thickened forming sharply delimited callus rim, slightly detached over base, abapically thickened with about seven indistinct denticles at outer columellar edge. Callus thins mid-aperture, thickening again in parietal area. Colour pattern of close-set, roughly spirally arranged, small subtrigonal whitish dots on brownish ground.

Shell measurements and ratios. SL: 15.9–23.4 mm, MD: 7.0– 11.4 mm, AA: 53–61°, SL/MD: 1.9, AL/AW: 3.5–3.6, LWH/AH: 1.3.

Discussion. This species has been mixed with Graphicomassa polonica by Hörnes (1852) and Hoernes & Auinger (1880). It differs from G. polonica in its stout outline, cyrtoconoid spire and shorter last whorl. In addition, the colour pattern of G. korytnicensis is delicate, comprising small dots, whereas G. polonica shows broad squarish flammulae. Nevertheless, subadult shells of Graphicomassa polonica can be difficult to distinguish from G. korytnicensis . Both species seem to have been ecologically separated. Graphicomassa polonica is found in inner neritic silty-sandy deposits whereas G. korytnicensis is found in offshore clays. The stout, thickened shell and cyrtoconoid spire make this species superficially similar to Columbella mayeri Hoernes, 1856 , but it is readily separated by the absence of the row of inner columellar denticles, diagnostic to the genus (see above). Moreover, the spire is even lower and more strongly cyrtoconoid in C. mayeri .

Palaeoenvironment. Middle neritic to outer neritic. The specimens from the Vienna Basin are found in clay of the Baden Fm., suggesting about 250 m water depth ( Hohenegger et al. 2008).

Distribution in Central Paratethys. Badenian (middle Miocene): Carpathian Foredeep: Korytnica ( Poland) ( Bałuk 1995); Zborów ( Ukraine) ( Friedberg 1938); Vienna Basin: Baden, Bad Vöslau, Baden-Sooss (own data); Făget Basin: Lăpugiu de Sus, Coşteiu de Sus ( Romania) ( Hoernes & Auinger 1880; Boettger 1906); Dacian Basin: Târnene ( Bulgaria) (Kojumdgieva in Kojumdgieva & Strachimirov 1960).
