Exorista fractiseta Rondani, 1859 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 116 (key), 124 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in agro parmensi [ Parmese territory ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♂♂, syntypes (one missing fore- and left mid-legs, the other its left mid- and right hind-legs), 3 ♀♀, syntypes (one missing left mid- and both hind-legs; one covered with mold and missing mid- and hindlegs; one with abdomen partially eaten by dermestids, missing mid-legs) ( MZUF: Box 13): Exorista Mgn / fractiseta Rnd. / 621; 1 specimen, syntype (sex not determinable, missing left mid-leg) ( MSNC: Box DIPTERA Ex collezione Rondani - I): Exorista fractiseta R. 382 Parma / Coll. Rondani, scatola n° 5, posiz. B-3 / Museo di Storia Naturale Università di Pisa, Calci ( PI) ex collezione Rondani.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Ethilia aemula ( Meigen, 1824) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 175) .
REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 124) described both sexes of Exorista fractiseta without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths, but from more than one specimen because he stated: “ eam legi a Junio ad septembrem [I collected it from June to September]”. We found six syntypes in this study. An additional male numbered “621” from “Varal” [= Varallo (= Vercelli, Italy)] is not included in the type series because it is not from the type locality .
