T y p e m a t e r i a l: Holotype: ♀. Type locality: Paraguay, Dr. Bohls ( MNHN) . Paratypes: 2 specimens. PARAGUAY: date not noted. Dr. Bohls ( MNHN, 1; WOPC, 1) .
D i a g n o s i s: Antenna, legs and pterothorax testaceous; cranium and, pronotal arch black, pronotal proper setaceous; elytra basal 1/3 testaceous middle 2/3 mostly black, except with a narrow fascia and broader lunulate fascia, elytral apex highly setose; abdomen black.
D e s c r i p t i o n: Size: Length 7.0 mm; width 1.4 mm. Form: As in Fig. 49 View Figs 49-52 . Head: Capitulum slightly acuminate; (EW/FW 21/65). Thorax: Elytral disc slightly roughened (PL/PW 110/110); (EL/EW 270/95). Abdomen: Aedeagus (Fig. 73).
E t y m o l o g y: The species name, pictus, relates to the colorful appearance of this beetle.
