Type series: Holotype female, dissected and slide mounted, Madagascar 071a, Andohahela (Tulear), Isaka, spring area S pass RIP 118 (km 36), 700 m asl., 16.0–18.4 ˚C, 0.055–0.060 mS/cm, spring, 10.ix.2001, Gerecke & Goldschmidt. Paratype: Madagascar 060c Tsimelahy (Tulear), River Antarantsa, downstream ‘piscine naturelle’, 05.ix. 2001, 200 m asl., 21.5 ˚C, 0.225 mS/cm, pool, Gerecke & Goldschmidt, 0/1/0 (dissected and slide mounted).
General features: Dorsal shield circular (L/W ratio 0.95), with extended medial depression, lateral ridges extending to frontal and caudal margin; muscle scars anterior and posterior to postocularia, with well pronounced thickenings, shifted medial to the edges of medial depression ( Figs. 38K–L View FIGURE 38 A – L ); gnathosomal bay Y-shaped; tips of Cx-I extending to frontal margin; medial margin of Cx-IV reduced to a median angle. Palp ( Fig. 33C View FIGURE 33 A – E ): P-1 with a dorsal seta; P-2 with straight ventral and strongly convex dorsal margin; P-3 ventral margin with a basal kink, from here to distal edge straight, equally narrowed; P-4 slender, ventral margin concave. Legs: I-L ( Fig. 33D View FIGURE 33 A – E ) with I-L-6 stout, L/H ratio 2.6, dorsal margins slightly concave in proximal third, from here to distal edge dorsal and ventral margin strongly diverging; IV-L: Fig. 33E View FIGURE 33 A – E ; swimming setae numbers: III-L-3, 1; III-L-4, 2; III-L-5, 2-3; IV-L-3, 1?; IV-L-4, 3-4; IV-L-5, 4.

Dorsal shield ( Figs. 33A View FIGURE 33 A – E , 38K View FIGURE 38 A – L ) L/W 366/ 384, L/W ratio 0.95; gnathosomal bay L 77. Gonopore L/W 86/79, ratio 1.1. Palp: total L 145-149; L/H, L/H ratio: P-1, 18/22, 0.8; P-2, 37-39/34-35, 1.1; P-3, 33-34/22, 1.5-1.6; P-4, 45-46/15, 3.0-3.1; P-5, 12/6, 2.0; chelicera total L 88; gnathosoma vL 83. Legs: dL of I-L-3-6: 39, 42, 51, 74; I-L-6 H 28, I-L-6 L/H ratio 2.6; dL of IV-L: 59, 67, 54, 74, 86, 99.
Male: Unknown.
Etymology: Named after the mineral tourmaline (dark violet colour, found in Madagascar). Discussion: It is most similar to Djeboa amethystica sp. nov. (see there for discussion). Distribution: Madagascar; only known from pools in two streams in the extreme southeast.
