Didymoglossum membranaceum View in CoL (L.) Vareschi, Fl. Venez. 1: 269. 1969.
= Trichomanes membranaceum L., Sp. Pl. 2: 1097. 1753. = Lecanium membranaceum (L.) C.Presl, Hymenophyllaceae (Presl) 12, t. 1. 1843. [Abh. Königl. Böhm. Ges. Wiss., ser. 5, 3: 104. 1843]. Range: —Antilles; southern Mexico to the Guianas and Bolivia (LP). Ecology: —Rare; epiphytic and on rocks in humid forests; to 650 m. Notes: —This is the only member of the genus, and perhaps the family, that has laminar scales; it may be that these remarkable “scales” are highly modified laminar tissue. It is also the largest species in the genus in the Neotropics.
