Range: — Costa Rica and Panama; Andes from Venezuela to Bolivia (CO, LP, SC); southeastern Brazil.
Ecology: —Uncommon on landslides, along rivers and other open areas like roadsides, rarely inside closed forests; 300–1200 m.
Notes: —In the eastern Andean foothills from Colombia to Peru, C. poeppigii is a common roadside tree fern that can reach imposing sizes. In Bolivia, it is less common and diminishes in frequency from west to east.
