Cryptothecia aleurodes (Nyl.) Makhija & Patw.

This pantropical species has been found in the evergreen forests in Great Nicobar Island of the Nicobar Islands. It is characterized by the whitish to whitish grey thallus; white, slightly raised, rounded to pustular ascigerous areas; 8- spored asci; 13–16 × 2–4 septate, 54–76 × 23–27 μm ascospores and norstictic acid as lichen substance.

Specimen examined: — INDIA. Nicobar Islands, Great Nicobar Island, Shompen Hut—Kopen Heat evergreen forest, 6°58’89.9” N, 93°51’62.4” E, alt. 30 m, 30.5.2014, Jagadeesh Ram 3270A (PBL).
