Habitat: Rocky intertidal, subtidal, lagoons, sandy shores
Depth: 0.2– 5 m
Specimens examined, observed: 20, 79
Length: 24–49 mm
Remarks: This is the first report of this species from India. Quoy & Gaimard (1834) described it from New Guinea. It has previously been reported from South Africa, the Red Sea, and elsewhere in the Indo-Pacific region but not from the central Indian Ocean ( Kilburn & Rippey 1982; Röckel et al. 1995).
