Chordonota aterrima James, 1940: 123 View in CoL . Holotype: female (USNM); Paratype: male (WSU, type number 726, see Zack 1984: 20). Type locality: Paraguay, Villarica (= Villarrica).

References. Carrera & Lane, 1945: 129 (record from the state of Paraná, Brazil; stated as possible syn. of C. nigra Williston, 1888 View in CoL ); James, 1940: 123 (list), 125 (in key to species); James, 1973a: 26.24 (cat.); Woodley, 2001: 155 (cat.).

Material examined. Paraguay: 1 ♀ , San Pedro, Cororo-Rio Ypane , 01–04.xii.1983, M. Wasbauer coll. ( CSCA); 2 ♀ , San Pedro, Cororo-Rio Ypane , 05–09.xii.1983, M. Wasbauer coll. ( CSCA) .

Distribution. Brazil, Paraguay (Guairá: Villarrica; San Pedro: Cororo-Rio Ypane).

Comments. James (1940), in the original description, mentioned an additional male allotype, but the depository institution is not known.
