Nomenclatural notes:— Hoehne (1942b) described A. peltato-deltoidea to Guyana in his Flora Brasilica, without a Latin description or diagnosis. Feuillet (2007) proposed A. kanukuensis as replacement name but he did not realize that Hoehne (1944), validated the name A. peltato-deltoidea providing a Latin diagnosis.

Taxonomic notes:— Aristolochia rodriguesii is a heterotypic synonym of A. dydima Moore (1915: 7) (see Hoehne 1942b).

Taxonomic notes:— Aristolochia saxicola is a heterotypic synonym of A. smilacina (Klotzsch) Duchartre (1864: 459) (see Bazzolo & Pfeifer 1977).
