yungas group
The members of this group of species show a development of elytral middiscal setal tuft that is transitory towards its highest development as seen in specimens of the acanthus species group. The tuft is comprised of two patches of white 28 setae. In most cases the setae of the anterior patch are directed anteriorly while those of the posterior patch are directed laterally or posterolaterally (fig. 182). The geographic range of this species group extends from Mexico to Bolivia.
