Alaskacladius Namayandeh, Hudson, Ghaderi, Vasquez & Ram, 2023 View in CoL
We collected adult males of Alaskocladius johnhudsoni Namayandeh et al. 2023 near the Margaret Creek inlet to Margaret Bay ( Fig. 9K View FIGURE 9 ) on Revillagigedo Island in 1995. A second collection of adult males was made along the Mount Roberts Trail ( Fig. 9L View FIGURE 9 ) above downtown Juneau on June 5, 2019, and both males and females in June 2022 ( Namayandeh et al. 2023). The Margaret Creek outlet is associated with intertidal mudflats, supratidal ponds, and seeps flowing into the bay. The Mount Roberts collection site is sub-alpine with a few snow-melt ponds, melt-water streams and seeps. Although the adults have been collected from very different habitats, one at sea level and the other sub-alpine, we believe that the larvae inhabit seep-like semi-terrestrial habitats.
