Type Locality: Perú, Puno Dept., drainage of Río Inambari, Limbani, 9000 ft (2743 m).
Vernacular Names: Puno Akodont.
Synonyms: Akodon (Akodon) arequipae Myers, Patton, and Smith 1990 .
Distribution: E Andean upper slopes, about 2000-4500 m, from SC Perú (Puno) to WC Bolivia (Cochabamba) (see Anderson, 1997:Fig. 717; Patton and Smith, 1992:Fig. 3).
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Akodon , A. boliviensis species group ( Myers et al., 1990). Described as a subspecies of A. boliviensis ; raised to specific level and another subspecies named by Myers et al. (1990).
