Range: — Mexico to Panama; Antilles; Colombia to Trinidad-Tobago, Guianas, and Bolivia (BE, CO, LP, PA, SC); Paraguay and Brazil.

Ecology: —Evergreen forests on lowlands; 100–500 m.

Notes: —Related to A. latifolium and allies, differing especially by the 1-pinnate blades. Rhizomes long-creeping, nodose; rachises with filiform scales and hairs; blades rarely 2-pinnate at bases, and with 1 or 2 pairs of lateral pinnae; pinnae short-stalked or sessile, stalks ca. 1–4 mm long, midveins close to middle, abaxially glabrous and often glaucous, margins of sterile blades minutely serrulate; indusia linear-arcuate, glabrous.
